The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer
of the League's overall operations in chairing the Executive Committee,
representing the League in the community and maintaining communications
between the League and the Association of Junior Leagues International
(AJLI). She is responsible for orientation and education of members
of the Board of Directors in their duties, ensuring that the League's
goals and objectives are established and appraised, and for carrying
out all resolutions and decisions of the Executive Committee, Board
of Directors and membership. It is the obligation of the President to
maintain a democratic approach in order not to abuse authority. The
President is authorized to consult the League's legal counsel when necessary
and is accountable for all legal documents.
The President-Elect's primary responsibilities are to prepare for presidency the following year, serve as AJLI liaison, supervise the AMP process, and assist the current President including the assumption of duties in the President's absence.
The purpose of the Community Vice-President, as defined
by the JLV Bylaws, is to act as a liaison between the JLV and the community.
The Community Vice-President also serves on the Executive Committee,
as Chair of Community Research and Development Committee, as Chair of
the Community Assistance Fund, and Chair of the Project Appraisal Committee.
This role also provides a liaison to Community Research and Development,
Community Projects, Community Placements, and DIAD. The Community Vice-President
is responsible for all agreements between the JLV and community agencies.
The Recording Secretary is responsible for keeping
the official minutes of the General Membership, Executive Committee,
and Board of Directors meetings. She prepares the agendas for the General
Membership meetings and the Board of Directors, and occasionally the
Executive committee. The Recording Secretary prepares the Executive
briefs and the Board briefs for the appropriate meetings. She keeps
a complete notebook of all agendas, minutes, briefs, and other relevant
material for the League's permanent records.
The Corresponding Secretary is responsible for conducting the general correspondence of the League and for maintaining a permanent file of all incoming and outgoing correspondence. Most of the correspondence falls under one of the following categories: a) letters to members requesting privileges of membership (such as transfer, non-resident status, reinstatement, and resignation); b) letters to members granted leaves of absence, sabbaticals, Provisional status, Active status, Sustaining status, Active Associate Status; c) letters of termination of membership; d) notes expressing condolence and congratulations to individual members; e) letters informing the membership of the new Provisional members; f) letters of appreciation and congratulations to various members of the community; g) letters of congratulations to local elected officials; and h) letters to AJLI regarding membership changes and to the Corresponding Secretaries of other Leagues regarding transfers.
The Treasurer serves as Chair of the Finance Committee.
The Treasurer's primary responsibility is to supervise the overall financial
affairs of the Junior League of Victoria. She annually updates the 3-year
Financial Forecast, presents quarterly reports to the Board and membership
to keep all apprised of the financial status of the League, monitors
insurance coverage and investments, reviews financial policies that
pertain to the League as a whole, and prepares the budget for the coming
year. She monitors League spending to maintain a balanced budget.
The Headquarters Chair is to oversee all aspects of the Junior League
of Victoria, Texas, Inc. headquarters, the O'Connor-Proctor Building,
and its surrounding properties to include maintenance, continued preservation
and general upkeep. She shall oversee all functions of office operation,
office duties, insurance policies, maintenance agreement and she supervises
hired personnel.
The responsibilities of the Membership Development Committee are to
consider the qualifications of all prospective members proposed for
membership in the Junior League of Victoria, Texas, Inc. They are to recommend
prospective members to the Board of Directors for admission to Provisional
membership and to plan and direct the education and training of Provisional
members until such time as they are accepted into active membership.
The committee is composed of a Chair, Co-Chair and a Sustaining Advisor.
The purpose of the Nominating/Placement Committee is to develop and
seek out potential leaders within the League and to establish a diversified
program of volunteer service which supports the League's purpose and
provides opportunities for a purposeful volunteer activities that enhance
the members' developmental needs and address significant community issues.
